The Client Assistance Program (CAP)
Client Assistance Program 2024-2025 Priorities
CAP is an advocacy resource for people with disabilities who are seeking, receiving, or have been denied services from state vocational rehabilitation agencies. In NYS those agencies are the Commission for the Blind and ACCES-VR. We help people get the services they need in order to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment.
You should contact DRNY if:
- You are interested in obtaining VR services
- Are having difficulty finding VR services and want information or resources
- You applied for VR services and were turned down
- You are dissatisfied with the VR services you're are receiving
- You have questions about policies, procedures, services or programs
- Your case is closed and you want to be reconsidered for services
- You are just not sure what to do
- You were denied services from your local independent living center
Who is Eligible for CAP Services?
People with disabilities who reside in New York State receiving or interested in receiving Vocational Rehabilitation services from the following agencies:
- New York State VR agencies
- New York State Adult Career Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR)
- New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB)
OR
- Tribal VR programs
OR
- Federally funded Independent Living Centers (ILCs)
